KPS offers individual, family, and group therapy to help children and families who are experiencing a wide variety of issues, including living with a developmental disability and coping with anxiety disorders. KPS has a specialized focus on working with adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorders and issues that they face with transitions in their lives. We also have developed an interest in working with girls with autism spectrum disorders, and lead a social skills group that is tailored to helping this group. KPS has extensive experience in working with individuals with anxiety and mood disorders. We incorporate evidence-based, cognitive-behavioral, family therapy, and group therapy principles into treatment.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is focused on improving the social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties experienced by many children and teens. Through therapy, children will learn to manage these difficulties in a way that improves mood, behavior, and overall functioning.
Family Therapy
Because families are central to children's healthy development, families will be closely involved in a child's treatment. In some instances, treatment works best when the family is present during therapy. KPS works to help families build the confidence and skills needed to effectively address each child's specific challenges.
Group Therapy
Some of the most effective therapy sessions take place within a group context and that parent participation is an essential component to effective group therapy. KPS is currently leading a social skills group for verbally fluent teens with autism spectrum disorders who are in middle and high school. Please see the attached flyer at the bottom of this page if you are interested in joining her upcoming gender inclusive PEERS social skills group. Please note that KPS also has expertise in running social skills groups with children of other ages and genders, as well as anxiety treatment groups for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities. If there is enough interest in starting a group, KPS can put one together to meet your child's individual needs in a group context.
